In the rare occasion that our elected representatives actually gets something right this is something that needs to be seized upon as an opportunity to get more of the same. When “we the people” crashed their phone lines about one year ago and they heard our pressure and voted overwhelmingly against immigration amnesty they took correct action. So did we! See? It is possible to fight the devil and win. Likewise it is realistic to have a relationship with Congress where we tell them…”don’t you dare” and they “don’t”. When destructive deeds are being done on a large scale in our country, usually by our government, the biggest tragedy is usually the loss of opportunity. My personal belief is that the biggest tragedy of 911… and certainly it is hard to pick one… the waste of 3000 innocent people, the subsequent 50,000 or so first responders who are not getting care (except if they are fortunate enough to be treated at New York Detox), the resultant illegal aggressions and emasculating of Constitutional rights and the Writ of Habeas Corpus, etc… are all horrors of magnitude. But in my opinion, the worst of all was the complete waste of the outpouring of love, togetherness and love which followed immediately after 911 from all all over the world. I was a volunteer at Ground Zero and I can give you a first hand account that the stuff that we were sent from around America and around the world filled a large church to the brim! But rather than use that as a basis for love and peace in the new millennium, Bush initiated the Patriot Act, the bogus “war on terror” and twoillegal, unconstitutional wars. The same situationholds true about the atrocity of the energy industry. The “greedy bastards that run the monopoly and keep us fixed and fixated on oil do much damage as regards our environment and so forth. However the biggest crime is that if they did not have all of us under their energy yolk then we could have an incredible alternative energy economic era of prosperity and remedy all financial concerns as a result of a spectacular incredible outpouring of creativity, entrepreneurialism, economic prosperity, pride and ingenuity which the once great American republic was built upon. Recently the House approved the Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation Tax Act. This proposal is a major baby step in the direction which we need to go towards improving our environment, creating clean energy jobs and striving towards energy independence. This would involve slashing government hand outs to the oil and gas industry and redirecting them towards The development of alternative energy solutions. Somehow Big Oil will survive without the hand outs -- ExxonMobil just published the largest quarterly profit for any company in American history and showed $8 billion profits in 2007! These bloated corporations are not really qualified for more Big Brother funding handouts. This new legislation would enable alternative sources, such as, solar and wind power to obtain the funding they require. Please help crash the Senate’s phone system and Tell your Senator that this bill needs to be passed.
